Hannah Nelson has been practising US tax since 2015. She joined the USTAXFS Zurich office in 2021 from the diversified tax group at EY in Frankfurt and, previously, in the US. As a result, Hannah is experienced in three different tax subsections. During her time at EY, Hannah gained experience with Private Client services, preparing High Net Worth Individuals’ Federal, state and trust returns, including extensions and estimates. She also has experience with ASC740 documentation, 199 deductions, UNICAP calculations, and assisting clients with IRS examinations.
Hannah primarily assists trust and corporate clients with their US tax obligations. She works on the US and international tax aspects associated with non-US trusts and their US beneficiaries, specifically planning to meet the complex US tax compliance and informational reporting associated with these trusts. Hannah spends time working closely with individuals, trustees, family offices and wealth advisors on various US trust tax issues arising from US taxpayers having associations with non-US trusts and estates. Additionally, Hannah prepares partnership returns and related tax filings for our Corporate Tax Group.
Hannah holds an MS in Accounting from the University of Toledo, Ohio in the US. Hannah speaks English, German and Swiss German.
