Changing your name with the IRS

If you changed your name in 2014 and are still in the process of letting everyone know about it, suchname tag as your bank, utility companies and your employer, add another notification to your list – the IRS and the Social Security Administration.  To minimize any misunderstanding with your tax filings, the IRS must be notified.  This will also ensure any refunds due to you are not delayed unnecessarily.

The IRS has issued some helpful notes on this subject and provides details of the forms that you need to complete.

If you have any questions about your tax circumstances, feel free to contact us.
